Leading trade association The British Retail Consortium informs that UK retailers are urging consumers to support Fairtrade Fortnight, which starts on Monday 6 March.

With many retailers running their own special Fairtrade promotions during the fortnight, it is the perfect opportunity for shoppers to make a difference.

With around 1000 Fairtrade certified products available in the UK - ranging from tea to fresh fruit – there's something for everyone.

British Retail Consortium's CSR Policy Director Nigel Smith says: “Consumers have become more and more sensitive to ethical issues such as sourcing policies. And in turn, they are increasingly keen to translate these concerns into purchasing habits."

“UK retailers are very aware of the opportunities offered by ethical product ranges such as Fairtrade. This market continues to increase in value – and that is good news for local communities as well as retailers. Fairtrade Fortnight is an ideal opportunity to raise awareness as well as making a difference.”
