Monsanto compelled to reduce Bt cotton seed prices

Mahyco Monsanto Biotech (MMB), a major player in providing agricultural products and solutions, has decided to drop the technology fee by 30 percent after facing allegations of high prices of Bt cotton, said Sarita Bahl, Senior Manager of the company.
From the next season, MMB's licensees would have to pay technology fee of Rs900 for a 450 gram pack of Bt cotton seeds.
This has been done with a view to meeting the market conditions.
If the seed companies decide to decrease their sale prices, it will encourage more farmers to choose genuine Bt cotton seeds instead of spurious ones, added Bahl.
