The fact that the sector has a great general need for discussion that goes beyond seasonal patterns was shown by the 2nd roundtable meeting of Munich Fabric Start. At this meeting, clothing industry, textile industry and Munich Trade Fair representatives had a discussion with Thomas Rasch, the Chief Manager of the GermanFashion fashion association, Wolfgang Klinder, the Head of the Munich Fabric Start trade fair, and Gerd Müller-Thomkins, the manager of DMI.

Munich Fabric Start is responding to the new developments and will launch an Asia trade fair in the atrium above hall 4 in September 2006, in order to present buyers that are already sourcing from the Far East with a selection of about 100 top weavers from Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan in Munich.

The various events organized by the trend institutes and the restructured trend presentations with trend fora, trend points and colour points were also well received. Fashion is focusing on lightness and naturalness. The time for excess is past and a refined, more peaceful look is coming in.

The general range of leaf fibres is prevalent in fabrics, where it is ensuring lively surfaces and a dry feel with a matt look through chintzes and polyamide and silk admixtures. Fine structures have even reached the denim sector, which is coming to terms with clean dark fabrics, colour fade-outs and new bleach notes. Resin finishes also ensure a smooth touch and a matt finish in this sector.

The next Munich Fabric Start – pre collections will now take place from 6–8th September 2006.
