Krishna Knit acquires Tirupur textile unit

With a view to nearly double its annual production capacity of 2.5 million pieces of high-end garments, Krishna Knitwear Technology (KKTL) acquired a manufacturing facility at Tirupur in Tamil Nadu in order to expand its production capacity from 2.5 million pieces to 4 million pieces.

The company has expansion plans of around Rs 600-crore with a part of it for Tirupur facility, to cater exclusively to global buyers like Wal-Mart, Reebok and Mother Care said KKTL Chairman and Managing Director, Sanjay Tayal.

He said, about 70 per cent of production was exported.

Turnover of Rs 1400 crore was expected in 2005-06 against Rs 1200-crore achieved in 2004-05.

The net profit was also expected to go up by Rs 2 crore in 2005-06.
