INVISTA, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and fibers, announces the start-up of a new production line in Shanghai, China, designed to specifically produce T837 LYCRA HyFit fiber that will serve the growing global demand for hygiene products.

In addition, INVISTA is planning two projects at its Paulina, Brazil, facility to add capacity and introduce regional production of T837 LYCRA HyFit fiber by October 2013.

T837 LYCRA HyFit fiber, a unique formulation that takes a proven polymer to a new level of performance, is the latest innovation from INVISTA for the personal care and hygiene market. T837 is unlike any previous version of LYCRA XA fiber; it simultaneously reduces fiber-to-fiber tack without negatively impacting creep performance.

A patent application has been granted for this technology. By the end of 2013, INVISTA will have local production of T837 in four regions, making it easily accessible no matter the location.

“The additional production capability for T837 LYCRA HyFit fiber demonstrates our commitment to the hygiene industry,” said Robert van de Kerkhof, global vice president of INVISTA Stretch Performance Materials. “INVISTA will continue to evaluate further investments in both capacity and innovation to meet the needs of our customers worldwide.”
