The key countries of Asia, particularly South Korea and China, continue to grow in importance at Texworld (11 percent of total visitor numbers), with a dramatic rise in buyers from Japan (+25 percent). The show also saw a significant increase in visitors from the Middle East and Oceania (New Zealand and Australia +10 percent).
Representing some 100 different countries around the world and spanning the entire textile and clothing sector (i.e. fabric and garment manufacturers, designers, purchasing groups and distributors), most visitors to Texworld are executives with decision-making authority, as revealed by surveys conducted regularly at Texworld shows.
Of the 689 exhibitors at the last session, China was represented with a group of 127 exhibitors, India with 108, South Korea with 93, Taiwan with 82, Turkey with 77 and Thailand with 47.
Visitors discovered the trends for Spring/Summer 2007 through fabrics in the forums organized by Ricerca & Comunicazione.
A number of exhibitors attempted to build a bridge between their traditional skills and modern technology by offering original and astonishing juxtapositions of materials, e.g. jute, silk and cotton re-embroidered with linen and wooden beads, and 3D effects created by groups of silk checks that change with the light or relief effects giving the effect of patterns. Both these were achieved by applying a source of heat to polyester.
This session of Texworld was marked by the launch of two new Texworld fairs: Texworld USA and Texworld India, which like their 'big brother' will be held twice a year, thus responding to requests by Texworld exhibitors who welcome the chance to improve their positioning in these two markets.
