Cotton Australia informs that the 13th Australian Cotton Conference takes place this year at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 8 - 10.

The theme for the 2006 conference is 'Product, Production, Profit - Progressing Our Natural Advantage'. Organisers say this year's program has been specifically designed with the profitability of the cotton industry in mind.

The 13th Australian Cotton Conference, organized by the Australian Cotton Growers Research Association (ACGRA) and supported by foundation sponsors; Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) and Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD), will focus on how growers can maximize their profitability and sustainability through the adoption of home grown Research and Development.

Cotton Australia is the peak body for Australia's cotton growing industry servicing growers in NSW and Queensland. Today, the organisation is very different to what it was in 1972. It is a dynamic company working in a number of program areas including Grower Services, Policy and Legislation and Communication.

ACGRA – Australian Cotton Growers Research Association itself undertook the responsibility of deciding which research was to be funded until the establishment of the Cotton Research Committee in 1983, which provided for the matching by the Commonwealth of research contributions by cotton growers.
