Malaysia attracted a fair share of global FDI last year, reflecting the high level of business confidence in the country among foreign investors. FDI approved in 2005 amounted to RM17.1 billion, compared with RM13.1 billion in 2004.
Datuk R. Karunakaran, Director General of MIDA commented: “With intense global competition to attract FDI, MIDA will intensify its efforts to attract foreign investments in the manufacturing and services sectors through trade and investment missions to capital exporting countries led by YB Minister of International Trade and Industry.
This year, MIDA will organise six Trade and Investment Missions to countries in Europe, the USA and Asia. In addition, MIDA will also organise specific project missions to targeted companies in designated industries. The in-depth analysis in the first edition of the Emerging Markets Series on Malaysia will provide accurate and up-to-date information to foreign investors interested in doing business in Malaysia”.
Emerging Malaysia 2006 will be launched in an investment conference jointly hosted by MIDA and OBG in May 2006 in Malaysia.
