CII textile meet for adopting IT to maximize benefit

Domestic textile industry is going in for increased investments and modernisation in quota-free regime, since last year.

But making use of information technology to connect production, managing multiple operations and meeting demands of supply chain requires much to be done.

The fourth edition of the two-day conference, Comptex 2006 for enhancing textile competitiveness organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is slated to open here tomorrow.

Its aim is to upgrade the working of textile industry to face challenges thrown by new age marketing.

Theme of the conference is Advantage IT, to open up possibilities available in information technology relevant to textile industry.

This conference is likely to provide information which will be beneficial to different industry segments.

Speakers representing software vendors, industry consultants and end-users will participate in the conference.

They are likely to touch on issues such as applicability of online data systems, entrepreneur resource planning packages, and supply chain management systems.

Over 200 CEOs of leading textile companies from southern States are expected to attend this conference to be inaugurated by Textiles Commissioner, J N Singh.

Top textile industry and IT consultancy personalities who are expected to address the conference include Shekhar Agarwal, Vice-Chairman, LNJ Bhilwara, Heiner Eberli, Head, Marketing SYS, Reiter Machine Works, Manikam Ramaswamy, Chairman, Textiles sub-committee of CII (Southern region), and Chairman and Managing Director, Loyal Textile Mills Ltd, Biswajit Babu, President, Sholingar Textiles Ltd, Saurab Agarwal, Principal Consultant of KSA Technopak India Pvt Ltd, and Samik Nandi, Director of Geographics Business Development, Oracle India Pvt Ltd.

Key speakers at the inaugural session will include Parasuraman, Chairman, CII (SR), S V Arumugam, Chairman, Southern India Mills Association and Sridhar Varadaraj, Managing Director of Premier Evolvics Pvt Ltd, who is Chairman of Comptex 2006.
