Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan is currently operating its Chiba-based naphtha cracker at 80 percent production capacity, a company official told fibre2fashion.

The naphtha cracker has ethylene production capacity of 374,000 mt/year and propylene production capacity of 224,000 mt/year.

“The aromatics plant is also presently operating at 75 percent of its production capacity,” the official said.

The plant, also located at Chiba in Japan has annual capacity to produce 265,000 mt of paraxylene (PX), 577,000 mt of benzene and 353,000 mt of mixed xylene (MX).

Idemitsu Kosan is currently operating both the aromatics plant and the naphtha cracker at lower rates due to bad domestic market conditions, according to the official.
