Mitsui transfers holdings in PT Amoco to BP Global

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. agreed to transfer all shares in P. T. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia ("AMI"), a manufacturer of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and joint venture with BP Amoco Chemical Indonesia Limited and Mitsui & Co., Ltd., to BP Global Investments Limited.

The share transfer is part of Mitsui Chemicals' effort to restructure its PTA operations under the current difficult environment for PTA business.

Details and background of this decision will be presented at the next "CEO Explanation on Business Results and Outlook".
