Trade barriers with China should be resolved soon otherwise local wool growers will lose opportunities to grow, said Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).
AWI is favoring Australia-China free trade agreement (FTA) negotiation, said Deputy Chair of AWI and Chair of the AWI China Free Trade Committee, Brian van Rooyen.
China is the largest producer and consumer of wool textile accounting 60 percent of Australia's wool exports.
According to van Rooyen, China will control about 62 percent of global apparel wool demand and if Australia doesn't want to miss this opportunity, restriction on trade must be abolished.
