Mitsui Chemicals is planning to shut its Osaka, Japan-based naphtha cracker for maintenance turnaround in mid-June 2014.

“The cracker is likely to remain shut till end of July 2014,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

The cracker is currently operating at 90-100 percent rates, due to lower demand for derivates, the official informed.

The naphtha cracker was shut for maintenance turnaround in September 2013 and was restarted in October last year.

When queried about maintenance turnaround at the company’s Chiba-based naphtha cracker, the official said, “There are no maintenance plans this year.”
