At the same time, Reiners will press ahead with CropLife's long-term commitment to stewardship. “To be credible to our stakeholders, we really have to walk the talk. We have to ensure that proper stewardship tools continue to be developed, understood, implemented as well as measured, adjusted and improved if necessary.” Reiners called CropLife's Safe Use Initiative, the Integrated Pest Management Initiative, the Container Management Program, and the Obstocks Removal Program, perfect examples of its stewardship activities at the association level. CropLife conducts, through its global network of associations, workshops and projects across the globe on these various programs and initiatives.
The new president will also emphasize open and transparent dialogue with the public, governmental and intergovernmental organizations. “We have to continue to communicate better and we have to do this in an open and transparent way. Measurement of jointly agreed key performance indicators will certainly help us to improve and become more credible,” Reiners said. “We will intensify our dialog with all relevant stakeholders, starting in the autumn with a workshop to review our international stewardship activities, and explore ways to develop these key performance indicators” he added.
