Euro-zone industrial new orders index rises 2.7% in Feb 2006

In February 2006, and among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in seven Member States and fell in nine.
The highest increases were recorded in Latvia (+24.1 percent), Slovakia (+8.4 percent), Italy (+6.6 percent), and Portugal (+4.9 percent). The largest decreases were registered in Poland (-35.5 percent), Malta (-15.3 percent), Estonia (-7.9 percent) and Denmark (-7.2 percent).
Annual changes
In February 2006 compared to February 2005, transport equipment grew by 20.4 percent in the euro-zone and by 8.1 percent in the EU25.
Manufacturing of electrical and electronic equipment increased by 19.3 percent and 17.2 percent respectively.
Basic metals and fabricated metal products gained 14.0 percent in the euro-zone and 13.1 percent in the EU25. Manufacturing of machinery and equipment rose by 9.8 percent and 11.1 percent respectively.
Chemicals and chemical products rose by 6.9 percent in the euro-zone and by 5.2 percent in the EU25. Textiles and textile products grew by 0.5 percent in the euro-zone but fell by 0.3 percent in the EU25.

The highest increases were registered in Latvia (+46.7 percent), the Czech Republic (+17.5 percent), Hungary (+17.0 percent) and Slovakia (+15.7 percent).The only decreases were recorded in Poland (-30.6 percent), Malta (-7.7 percent) and Estonia (-0.7 percent).
