Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation is restructuring its naphtha cracking facility at Kashima in Japan.

As part of restructuring, the company has permanently shut the No. 1 cracker, which had a production capacity of 390,000 tons/year, and is increasing the capacity of No. 2 cracker.

“The No. 1 naphtha cracker at Kashima was shut on May 3, 2014,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

“The capacity of No. 2 cracker will increase from around 490,000 tons/year to 540,000 tons/year, when it will restart post-maintenance in the beginning of July 2014,” the official further informed.
