Asahi Kasei completes addition of Bemberg production unit

Asahi Kasei Fibers completed the addition of new production facility for Bemberg cupro fiber at its plant in Nobeoka, Miyazaki, Japan, and held its opening ceremony on May 29, 2014. Commercial operation of the new facility will begin on June 1, 2014.
 
Bemberg is a regenerated cellulose fiber made from cotton linter, the short fibers on cotton seeds. Featuring a smooth feel and moisture absorption/release, it is widely used for the lining of high-quality suits, as well as a wide range of other applications such as outerwear, innerwear, bedding, and sportswear.
 
In order to meet growing demand in the fields of functional innerwear and Indian traditional garments as well as further demand growth forecasted in emerging markets, the decision was made construct a new production facility. With the completion of the new facility, production capacity for Bemberg increases by approximately 10%.
 
Moving forward, Asahi Kasei Fibers will continue to expand production capacity and enhance the production infrastructure in order to strengthen the Bemberg supply configuration in line with additional growth in the global market.
