Confederation of Indian Industry (northern region) suggested establishing Common Economic Zone for nine northern states, along with common taxation and free movement of goods amongst them.

Tax structure and regulations should be similar in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttranchal, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh, chamber's Northern Region President, Adesh Gupta said.

CII prefers to partner with State Governments a shared, agreed vision for industrial development of every north Indian state for automotive, food and agriculture, textile, leather and footwear sectors, he said.

Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects should be initiated for infrastructure development in northern states.

Gupta unveiled CII's theme for 2006-07 'Nirman North.'
