SK Energy's JV aromatics plant achieves on-spec production

The aromatics plant started as a joint venture between South Korea’s SK Energy and Japan’s JX Nippon Oil and Energy has achieved on-specification production of paraxylene and benzene.
 
“The new plant located at Ulsan in South Korea is presently operating at around 80 percent of its production capacity,” an official from SK Energy informed fibre2fashion.
 
“The plant is expected to attain full production levels by end-June 2014,” the official added.
 
The aromatics plant, set up at an estimated cost of US$ 1 billion, has an annual capacity to produce 1 million tons of paraxylene and 600,000 tons of benzene.
 
SK Energy is a leading petrochemical company in South Korea. JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation is into refining and marketing of petroleum and petrochemical products, besides other items.
