The International Cotton Association (ICA) has moved the date of its next trade event ‘Dubai 2014’, to 1-2 October (one day earlier than previously planned).

The change follows information recently received at the ICA from government authorities in Dubai, confirming that the religious festivals of Eid and Waqf Al Arafa are likely to fall on the event dates previously planned (2-3 October) which will affect the ICA’s Muslim members.

During the festivals, entertainment will be banned which will also have an impact on the ICA’s event.

ICA President, Mohit Shah, said; “We chose Dubai to hold the ICA’s next trade event to make it more accessible, especially for delegates from South East Asia. The change in date will now allow our Muslim members from this region to attend the event and return home in time to celebrate Eid with their families. Additionally, having no entertainment would have a big impact on the overall event experience, which is another reason why we have taken the decision to change the date.”

The conference will now take place on Wednesday and Thursday 1-2 October in the same venue as originally planned, the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Banquet will also be held in the same venue as originally planned, the Sky Bubble, Meydan, on Wednesday 1 October, where entertainment will be provided. Dubai 2014 is open to anyone with an interest in the cotton trade.
