Japan-based Mitsui Chemicals is planning to shut its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant for maintenance turnaround.

“The PTA plant will be shut in early September 2014 for around one month,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

Located in Iwakuni, at the eastern end of Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan, the PTA plant has a production capacity of 400,000 tons/year.

“The plant is currently operating at 70-80 percent operating rates,” the official said.
