German exports rise 18.1% in March

Commodities to the value of EUR 15.9 billion (+21.9 percent) were dispatched to EU countries not belonging to the euro area in March 2006, while the value of the commodities which arrived from those countries was EUR 11.9 billion (+30.8 percent).

Germany exported commodities to the value of EUR 27.5 billion to and imported commodities to the value of EUR 22.9 billion from countries outside the European Union (third countries) in March 2006.

Compared with March 2005, exports to third countries rose by 19.3 percent and imports from those countries by 42.0 percent.

Index of prices in wholesale trade in April 2006: +3.2 percent on April 2005

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, the index of selling prices in wholesale trade increased 3.2 percent in April 2006 from the corresponding month of the preceding year.

In March and in February 2006, the annual rate of change was +2.5 percent and +2.9 percent, respectively. From March to April the index rose by 1.0 percent.
