Japan-based Idemitsu Kosan has restarted its Tokuyama, Japan based naphtha cracker post maintenance turnaround.

“The naphtha cracker was shut for maintenance turnaround in early September 2014 and was scheduled to restart at the beginning of November, but the restart was delayed due to some technical issues and was restarted on November 6, 2014,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

The Tokuyama-based naphtha cracker has ethylene production capacity of 620,000 tons/year.

When queried about any other maintenance schedules in near future, the official said, “The Chiba-based naphtha cracker is likely to be shut for maintenance in April 2015, and it is likely to remain shut till June 2015.”

The Chiba-based cracker has an annual capacity to produce 370,000 tons of ethylene and 224,000 tons of propylene. (RKS)
