Organizations that took part in last year's event have expressed great desire to implement tips and ideas learnt on the Kaizen
principles. Based on information received, we have designed this year's event to help participating companies to translate these ideas into actions at their own 'Gemba'.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER & GUEST OF HONOUR: DR ROBERT W HALL
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Robert W Hall, Professor Emeritus of Operations Management, Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
Dr. Hall is the founder of LEAN thinking from the USA, the first examiner of the very prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award, founder of the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) of USA, and also editor in chief of AME's LEAN journal, Target. Currently he is a judge for the Pace Award for innovation among auto industry suppliers.
Dr Hall is a luminary with over half a dozen books to his credit among them: Zero Inventories, McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 1983; Attaining Manufacturing Excellence, McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 1987; Measuring Up, (with T Johnson & P Turney), McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 1990; Flexibility: Manufacturing Battlefield of the 90s, (with J Nakane), AME, 1990; The Soul of the Enterprise, Harper/Collins, 1993 ; Kaizen Blitz, (with A Laraia & P. Moody), and John Wiley & Sons, 1999.
He reviews applications for the Industry Week, America's 10 Best Plants competition. His thought provoking articles and presentations led tothe development of what later became known as 'Lean Manufacturing'.
