The EU25 trade deficit grew strongly with China (-20.7 bn compared with -15.5 bn), Russia (-13.5 bn compared with -7.7 bn) and Norway (-7.9 bn compared with -4.7 bn) and slightly with Japan (-4.7 bn compared with -4.1 bn).
Concerning the total trade of Member States, the largest surplus was observed in Germany (+24.9 bn euro in January-February 2006), followed by the Netherlands (+5.5 bn), Ireland (+4.5 bn) and Sweden (+2.9 bn).
The United Kingdom (-18.0 bn) registered the largest deficit, followed by Spain (-13.0 bn), Italy (-7.1 bn), France (-6.8 bn) and Greece (-5.0 bn).
