LEADING clothing brand George at Asda, part of the giant Wal-Mart family, has chosen the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) to deliver a series of best practice colour courses for all its personnel involved in textile production.

This is the first time that the Society, granted a Royal Charter in 1963 in recognition of its contribution and commitment to the highest standards in education and training, has collaborated with a major retailer to produce a bespoke training package focusing on specific, colour-related topics.

Intended to provide the optimum blend of formal training and skills enhancement demanded by an increasingly complex and technology-driven coloration industry, the courses will be continuously monitored to reflect the changing needs and requirements of the company.

Comments Andrew Smith, fabric manager at George at Asda, 'We see this as a great opportunity in the education of the importance of colour within our retail business.'

The Society's technical officer, Andrew Filarowski, is delighted to be working with George at Asda on this ground-breaking project. 'It reflects great credit on the SDC that such an important high street brand has decided that the Society is the natural and logical partner for this initiative.'
