A member of the Society since 1968, Arthur has had involvement with a number of SDC committees over the years, including education, membership and publications and is still an active member of the Journals Committee. Of his year as president he is looking forward to making a positive contribution to expanding the international activities of the Society.
Comments Arthur, 'The continuing role of the Society in the 21st century must be clarified and it is, in my opinion, particularly important to perceive how that role may have a different emphasis in countries at an earlier stage of industrial development than in the UK, where our membership expectations are more likely to lie in fashion, design, retail and colour technology than in manufacturing industry.'
