Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) and Purely Merino are proud to announce the launch of a new range of Australian Merino wool clothing – Red Island - designed to cater to the needs of travellers.

The Red Island range, made from super fine Australian Merino wool, and capitalises on the quick-dry, light weight nature of the fibre.

This range will be sold exclusively through Purely Merino stores in domestic and international airport terminals around Australia, featuring men's and women's t-shirts, polo shirts and zip front heavy-weight tops.

AWI Chairman, Ian McLachlan says the Red Island range is the result of a direct business relationship, established to boost demand for Australian Merino wool.

"This is an example of a direct business relationship, that coupled with product development delivers results for the consumer and ultimately the woolgrower," said Mr McLachlan.

"These products are ideally placed to capture the interest of Australian and international travellers, and demonstrates the unique characteristics of wool."

Last year Purely Merino entered into a partnership with AWI to develop a new range of clothing featuring the finest quality Australian Merino in colours and styles both fashionable and distinctively Australian.

The Red Island range was launched at the Purely Merino Adelaide airport store on Wednesday June 7, 2006 at 5pm by AWI chairmanMr Ian McLachlan and Purely Merino concept manager Nick Poole.
