SDC Colour Conference & Awards 2006 – Colour future bright

Colour and innovation is the chosen theme for this year's SDC Colour Conference to be held in the Studio at the award-winning Belfast Waterfront Hall. Backed by Invest Northern Ireland, it promises to be the highlight of the 2006 coloration calendar.

With 2006 being the 150th anniversary year of the discovery of the first synthetic dye by William Henry Perkin – a discovery that was to change the world – innovation as a theme is particularly apt.

A full day of lectures and presentations will be complemented by the SDC colour exhibition, which will run alongside the conference.

The day will culminate in an awards ceremony at which the winners of the Society's Colour in Design Competition, this year sponsored by Marks & Spencer, will be announced. The Society will also make known the winner of its 2006 SDC-Perkin Colour Innovation Award.

A strong social programme is planned so that, in addition to taking part in the coloration event of the year, delegates can enjoy the many and varied sights and sounds of Belfast and the surrounding countryside. Special conference rates are available for the whole weekend in a range of hotels so that delegates can use the city as a base as they explore the local area.

Comments chair of the conference organising committee, Chris Sargeant, 'The scene is set for a memorable conference that combines the best speakers in the business with the best of Irish hospitality. And, of course, an awards dinner that celebrates the best of our young design talent.'
