Ciba Specialty Chemicals has signed a joint venture agreement with Virchow Group, a leading Indian pharmaceutical company based in Hyderabad. Under the joint venture agreement, the Triclosan manufacturing of Virchow Drugs Private Ltd in Hyderabad, India, is being further upgraded using technology from Ciba Specialty Chemicals.
This will create a production facility fully enabled to make Triclosan with purity equivalent to United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) specifications.
With this joint venture, Ciba Specialty Chemicals wants to expand its share of the growing cosmetic markets in Asia and further improve its position in the region.
Together, Ciba and Virchow will safeguard that the Asian cosmetic category is served only with high purity ingredients to guarantee consistent product quality, and to meet international environmental standards.
