Annual comparison In April 2006 compared to April 2005, intermediate goods rose by 2.8 percent in both the euro area and the EU25. Capital goods gained 2.6 percent and 3.3 percent respectively. In the energy sector production grew by 1.4 percent in the euro area and by 0.1 percent in the EU25.
Non-durable consumer goods increased by 0.1 percent and 0.4 percent respectively. Durable consumer goods fell by 0.3 percent in the euro area, but rose by 2.3 percent in the EU25.
In April 2006, and among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in fifteen Member States and fell in six. The highest increases were registered in Luxembourg (+11.6 percent), Ireland (+10.6 percent), Poland (+10.2 percent) and Lithuania (+9.8 percent), while the largest decreases were recorded in Portugal (-3.1 percent), Italy (-2.6 percent), Greece (-2.0 percent) and France (-1.4 percent).
