On an annual basis though fabric production decreased by 5.1 percent worldwide with North America experiencing a considerable drop of 19.0 percent, while Europe, South America and Asia recorded smaller reductions of 5.5 percent, 3.2 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.
The yarn inventory on world-level stayed at its level of the Fourth Quarter (+0.1 percent). All regions kept their stock levels. In Asia it increased by 0.5 percent and remained unchanged in South America, while in Europe and North America they were slightly lower (-0.3 percent and
-0.8 percent, respectively).
In comparison with previous year's Quarter world yarn inventory level was up 5.7 percent with North America recording a jump of 29.6 percent and Asia an increase of 5.5 percent, while Europe's and South America's level fell by 8.5 percent and 8.3 percent, respectively.
Global fabric stocks fell in the First Quarter of 2006 by 2.3 percent. Only Asia reported a rise (+3.1 percent), while all the other regions experienced lower fabric inventories: North America's level dropped significantly by 15.6 percent, South America's by 5.6 percent and Europe's by 1.5 percent.
On an annual basis fabric inventories rose by 5.0 percent on world level which was a consequence of an strong built-up in Asia (30.1 percent), and there especially in Pakistan (+42.7 percent), whereas inventories in all other regions fell (North America -17.7 percent, South America -4.6 percent and Europe -1.9 percent).
