EU25 new orders rise 0.4% in April 2006

In April 2006 compared to April 2005, basic metals and fabricated metal products grew by 10.7 percent in the euro area and by 9.5 percent in the EU25. Chemicals and chemical products increased by 4.7 percent and 4.3 percent respectively.

Textiles and textile products fell by 1.7 percent in the euro area and by 4.2 percent in the EU25. In the EU25, manufacturing of machinery and equipment rose by 9.2 percent, electrical and electronic equipment by 7.4 percent and transport equipment by 4.4 percent.

In April 2006, and among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in twelve Member States and fell in four.

The highest increases were registered in Latvia (+38.4 percent), the Netherlands (+15.9 percent), Poland (+15.7 percent), and the Czech Republic (+13.5 percent). Decreases were recorded in Malta (-3.9 percent), France (-2.3 percent), Belgium and Denmark (both -0.4 percent).
