The exchange rate against the Euro decreased by 0.08 Euro cents (-0.1 percent) to close at 58.45 Euro cents on Thursday night. When looked at in other currencies, the AWEX EMI decreased by 1¢ in US terms and by 3¢ in Euro terms when compared with the previous sale.

In a two day sale this week, the AWEX EMI decreased by 1¢ on Wednesday, and by 3¢ on Thursday.

Although fleece types eased this week, this was influenced by a poorer quality offering; in both the North and the South. However, the better quality wools fared better and attracted good competition. With quieter demand from Europe, the fine wools suffered most, especially yesterday when the AWEX Indicators fell by 30 to 40¢.

Skirting types were generally firm, apart from some finer wools in the South on Wednesday. Cross breds were marginally up on last weeks prices, while oddments were generally firm over both days of selling.

Buyers for China were dominant at this week's sale.

Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 57,778 bales are currently rostered for sale.
