Coimbatore-based Lakshmi Machine Works Limited had been witnessing a boom during the last seven years, and expects the trend would continue in future.
Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, whole-time director of the company, stated that modernization work worth Rs.200-crores is in progress that covers its four units of textile machinery manufacturing units, three foundries and a machine tool unit, surrounding Coimbatore to would be completed by September 2006.
The exercise included upgrading automation, additional capacity building, installation of high capacity machines and equipment.
Lakshmi anticipates an increase in production by 50 percent although it was maintaining a steady growth rate of over 25 percent for the last few years.
This is expected to go up further, in the coming years as the company had already registered a turnover of around Rs.1,000 crores during 2004-2005.
