Monsanto's monopoly in Bt cotton technology market in country has ended as JK AgriGenetics Ltd has introduced alternate technologies Bacillus thuringiensis or Bt.
Centre has approved 59 Bt cotton hybrids, of which 44 incorporate the cry1Ac Bt gene construct of Monsanto.
JK AgriGenetics has got approval for four hybrids: `JK Durga Bt' and `JKCH-99 Bt' in the South, `JK Varun Bt' in the Central zone, `JKCH-1947 Bt' in the North.
