World Economic Forum (WEF) announces that China is now the world's fourth largest economy – its per capita GDP is over US$ 1,000 and its foreign exchange reserves are nearing US$ 1 trillion.

Its rapid economic success, however, has also introduced new challenges that will require innovative government policies and creative business solutions if the country is to maintain its strong record of growth.

Therefore, the World Economic Forum's 26th China Business Summit which will be held in Beijing on 10-11 September will focus on "Sustainable Growth through Innovation: China's Creative Imperative".

For more than 25 years, in collaboration with the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) and with the support of the National Development and Reform Commission, the World Economic Forum has convened the country's senior government and business leaders with top executives from the international business community and leading experts from the world's most important academic institutions.

The objective of the China Business Summit 2006 is to bring key stakeholders together in Beijing to rethink and reshape the country's growth and industry agendas in this new context.

Six distinguished leaders from business and government will serve as Co-Chairs for the China Business Summit :
Chen Yuan, Governor, China Development Bank, People's Republic of China. Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge, India. Maurice Levy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Publicis Group, France.
