CSRTI develops new multivoltine–bivoltine hybrid

'Jayalakshmi' a new multivoltine–bivoltine hybrid (ND7 x CSR2) developed by Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI) will help in producing high quality silk.

This new hybrid comprises 0.6 percent pupation rate, 2.096-gm cocoon weight, 49.4 kg cocoon shell weight and 79.1 kg cocoon yield per 100 DFLs (Disease Free Laying).

This hybrid will be provided to major silk producing states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

This new hybrid 'Jayalakshmi' will be registered to Central Silk Board as per Race guideline, informed CSRTI sources.
