Woolgrowers receive voting entitlement mails

Fifty thousand Australian woolgrowers have been mailed information outlining their voting entitlements for Australian Wool Innovation Limited's 2006 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and WoolPoll 2006.

Voting for WoolPoll 2006 closes on 3 November, while the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) AGM is being held on the 14th of November in Armidale, New South Wales.

Voting entitlement letters have been sent to AWI's 32,000 shareholders as well as to an additional 18,000 non-shareholders who are eligible to vote at WoolPoll.

The mailout details individual voting entitlements calculated on levy data supplied by wool brokers and sellers to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).

Shareholders are entitled to one vote for every $100 of wool levy paid in the past three financial years ended 30 June 2006.

AWI Chief Executive Officer, Dr Len Stephens said levy payers should check that their voting entitlement as specified in the letter was correct, particularly coming into WoolPoll 2006.

“Any questions regarding your entitlement must be resolved before 8 September 2006 to apply for WoolPoll, or 28 September for the AGM,” said Dr Stephens.

“This is the opportunity for people who pay wool levies to have their say on the future, so I would strongly encourage all eligible voters to take part in WoolPoll and the AGM.”

AWI shareholders can also view their shareholding details and current voting entitlements online at www.wool.com.au/shares, and then go to the share registry service.

Woolgrowers will need their Shareholder Reference Number (SRN) to access the online share registry section and view their details.
