Henrik Kuffner, Director General, International Wool and Textile Organization (IWTO), is currently on a visit to India in connection with the preparation of IWTO Country Summit to be held in Mumbai, this October.
To be held concurrently with Texworld and Timeworld events, this important event will provide a business platform to Indian wool industries, companies, research organizations and entrepreneurs.
Speaking exclusively to Fibre2fashion, Kuffner says, “Textiles Minister Mr Shankersinh Vaghela, Textiles Commissioner J N Singh, Member Secretary Dr Rajiv Agarwal and other prominent Government and Non-Government as well as industry representatives are expected to grace the event.
Amongst international participants, Kuffener added that Spanish company Cassanavas, Acordis and British Textile Export Corporation will participate in the event.
Throwing insight on the current state of wool industry worldwide, Kuffner adds, “We are very encouraged that after many difficult years, the industry has recorded growth this year. Much wool is today being used in fashion industry and growth in the coming years is expected from womenswear and menswear segment.”
Referring to IWTO's role, Kuffner says, “We are lobbying and pushing to create awareness, promotion and encourage marketing of wool as natural fibres spurring its demand among consumers.”
