Financially troubled furniture retailer Homestyle has reported pre-tax losses of £24.6m in the 61 weeks to July 1.

This follows its last year's loss of £25.5m in the 52 weeks to the end of April 2005.

Homestyle changed its accounting year following the restructuring in June 2005, which was forced by its financial difficulties.

The Warrington-based company, which runs the Harveys, Benson, and Sleepmaster chains, despite being in the red claimed that it faced the future with "fresh enthusiasm".

Last summer, Tim Kowalski Homestyle's Finance Director brokered a refinancing deal of £100m, in which South African furniture giant Steinhoff took a majority stake.

The company runs 170 Harveys furniture stores across the UK in addition to 392 bed shops spread across Bensons, Sleepmaster and Bed Shed.
