Demand for close by delivery

The enquiries by the domestic spinning mills in the week under report concentrated selectively on the near delivery dates until the end of the year.

There was also interest registered for cotton from the new crop, however, the offering prices deterred many potential buyers from closing new contracts.

The discrepancy between offers from the countries of origin and the price ideas of the spinning mills could not be bridged over by most merchants. New contracts could only be fulfilled from merchants´ positions.

In the Upland range were traded: West African types for prompt until the end of the 4th quarter and Central Asian sorts for the same period.

Turnovers in LS/ELS cottons for the local market were not registered.
