Trevira, the polyester fibre manufacturer, records its satisfaction with its flame retardant fibres and yarns. While business with Trevira CS products proceeded at a stable pace in 2005, the first half of 2006 has witnessed increases of 10% in filament yarns over the preceding year.
"This is also a success for our development activities", explains Dr. Ulrich Girrbach, Head of Marketing Sales & Distribution Trevira CS & Textile Filaments.
Trevira supports its customers by developing its own material prototypes in Trevira CS, and these include the use of customers' new yarns. "Innovations in the fabric are often inspired by innovations in the yarn", says Girrbach. "We help our partners make full use of the creative possibilities of our fibres and yarns.”
“By developing prototypes and trends in the material, we aim in addition to create fresh demand at the end of the supply chain."
Introduction of safety standards brings opportunities in the market : To an increasing degree there are statutory regulations in place that favour the use of flame retardant textiles. Korea, for instance, has for a year now had higher requirements applying to protection against fire in public buildings.
For Trevira CS, market leader in flame retardant polyester textiles for the contract sector, this means increasing opportunities in the market.
Trevira customers are responding to this development. Girrbach: "That the brand is rated very highly by our customers is shown by the steady rise in the number of fabrics submitted." In the first half of 2006 Trevira received some 35 % more trademark applications than in the same period last year.
