Cumulative growth for period April-July 2006 stands at 10.6%

As per Use-based classification, the Sectoral growth rates in July 2006 over July 2005 are 10.0 percent in Basic goods, 15.4 percent in Capital goods and 7.9 percent in Intermediate goods. The Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables have recorded growth of 17.5 percent and 18.0 percent respectively, with the overall growth in Consumer goods being 17.9 percent.

Alongwith the Quick Estimates of IIP for July 2006, the indices for June 2006 have undergone the first revision and those for April 2006 have undergone the second (final) revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies. There are no significant revisions in the indices for April 2006 and June 2006.

Statements giving Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC)-1987 and by Use-based classification for the month of July 2006, along with the growth rates over the corresponding month of previous year, including the cumulative indices and growth rates, are enclosed.
