Weaker cotton demand in market

At the beginning of the week under report, demand for cotton for the time until availability of new crop arrivals was still lively and contracts were concluded for goods from trade positions.

After these quantities are exhausted to a large extent and offers were given on replacement basis, the interest of the buyers diminished notedly.

Along with falling quotations in New York and in anticipation of the next estimate the observant attitude of the spinning mills dominated again, whereas from the countries of origin either no offers were given or the price ideas were furthermore high.

In the Upland range were traded: Greek descriptions for the 4th quarter 2006 and the 1st quarter 2007; West African types for the 4th quarter 2006 and the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007; Central Asian sorts for prompt and further in the 4th quarter 2006.

In the LS/ELS range were traded: USA Pima for dates in the 4th quarter 2006 and in the 1st quarter 2007, as well as Israel Pima for the same period of time.
