Australian designer and Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) partner Jayson Brunsdon has launched his women's ready–to-wear collection for Autumn/Winter 2007 to the market, with strong emphasis on Australian Merino wool.

The collection features a new kind of wool poplin fabric supplied by AWI that is a natural easy care textile, developed to provide designers with lightweight and easy-care properties.

It is pure wool, has no added chemicals and can be machine-washed, requires minimum ironing, has natural elasticity for comfort, is wonderfully soft to touch, offers great drape characteristics, and is so delicate it confuses the best.

“Our seamstresses thought it was cotton because it is so lightweight and delicate” says Mr Brunsdon.

“Working with AWI provides me with the opportunity to design clothing with fantastic drape and fit, whilst at the same time providing my customers with high-quality garments that feel amazing next to their skin.”

AWI Fashion Communications Manager, Melissa Grace said the collection is a key example of how AWI is working with design partners to take our innovations to the global market.

“This in turn takes Australian Merino wool to global customers, and who better to do this than the people who are renowned for creating desirable fashion apparel, and have the ability to influence the wider market,” said Mrs Grace.

Jayson Brunsdon sells to leading national boutiques in Australia, and is available in more than fourteen countries worldwide including prestigious department stores such as David Jones Australia, Selfridges UK, Neiman Marcus USA and Saks Fifth Avenue USA.

For the first time, Jayson Brunsdon in collaboration with AWI will also launch a coffee table book of his new collection.

The 36 page colour gloss portfolio photographed by Australia's acclaimed photographer Carlotta Moye will be distributed internationally on Tuesday September 5th 2006.
