On the occasion of the international day of older persons on 1 October, the Federal Statistical Office reports that in Germany an average 13.5 percent of the people aged 65 to 74 years were active on the labour market in 2005.
The either were in employment or they were looking for a job.
This means that even above the legal retirement age of 65 years, many people do not think about retiring from working life.
