On Wednesday, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) finalized the deal to establish a major chemical centre at Haldia port near Kolkata.
This has reinforced IOC's position as the leading investor in the 10,000-acre hub and the state is already applied for approval from central Government.
Company is expected to expand the capacity of its 6-million ton refinery and take over the nearby 80-acre Hindustan Fertiliser Corporation plot. It has also commissioned a study for a paraxylene unit.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya attended this signing ceremony.
