According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office, turnover in retail trade in Germany in August 2006 was in nominal terms 1.8 percent and in real terms 1.0 percent larger than that of the corresponding month of the previous year.
The number of days open for sale was 27 in August 2006 and in August 2005, too.
When adjusted for calendar and seasonal variations (CENSUS-X-12-ARIMA), the August turnover was in nominal terms 0.1 percent larger than that of the preceding month and in real terms unchanged.
Compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, retail turnover was in the first eight months 2006 in nominal terms 1.3 percent and in real terms 0.6 percent larger than that in the first eight months of 2005.
