Prices of textile & clothing climb slightly

Despite the seasonally weak values within the range of performed working hours and production, the incoming orders for the textile and apparel industry in total have developed stable for the first six months.

It is to be assumed that this development will continue also for the time after the summer break. The incoming orders of the textile industry registered a slight minus of 2.1 percent in June compared to the same month of the previous year.

The apparel industry shows a plus of 0.8 percent in the same reported month. The total development of the first six months of this year indicates a plus of 1.1 percent for textile and 0.7 percent for apparel.

The production of the textile industry decreased in June by 7.9 percent in comparison to the respective month of the previous year.

In consequence, this results in a minus of 3.5 percent during the first half of 2006. The apparel industry records a decrease of a whole 20.7 percent in June in relation to the previous year month, and a minus of approximately 15 percent for the period of January to June 2006.

The producer's prices of textile and clothing rose slightly by 1.8 and 0.8 percent compared to the previous year's value with an increase of 1.1 percent for textile and 1.2 percent for clothing in the course of the first six months of this year.

The turn-over of the textile industry dropped by 4.6 percent in June in contrast to the value in the previous year with a slightlydeclining tendency of 0.1 percent for the period January to June 2006.
